בס"ד, ערב ראש השנה
תשס"ח
לבוגרי ישיבת הר עציון בכל מקום שהם,
ה' עמכם וברכתו מציון!
על פתחה של שנת תשס"ח, ועמה על פתחה של שנת
הארבעים לישיבתנו באנו לברך אתכם בשנת חיים ושלום, חיים שיש בהם אהבת תורה ויראת
שמים, חיים שימלא ה' כל משאלותיכם, בכלל ובפרט לטובה, שנה שנזכה כולנו לראות בה את
ישועת ה' את עמו ואת השבת שכינתו
לציון ולירושלים.
ברכה זו אנו נותנים לכם, לא רק כבוגרים, אלא גם
כתלמידים. אנו רואים בכל מי שזכה להסתופף בחצרות ה' בבית המדרש של ישיבתנו ת"ו,
תלמיד בה לכל ימי חייו. גם אנו, ראשי הישיבה, רואים עצמנו כתלמידים בה בכל עת, ויש
לנו הרבה ללמוד מתלמידינו ומחברינו ומתורת ה' המצויה בין כתלי
ישיבתנו.
כולנו מחויבים בכל עת ובכל שעה לבקש כל דרך
להתקרב אל הקב"ה ולהיות עמו בדו- שיח מתמיד. דו שיח על דאגתנו לתיקונה של אומתנו,
להשבת כבודה של ארץ קדשנו, לזקיפת קומתם השחה של כל אלו שגבם נכפף מעול החיים
הקשים, ובכלל, להיות עמו בדו שיח של געגועים, של אהבה ושל קשר טוב, שאם חסרנו אותו,
למה לנו חיים?
ניסיוננו הדל בחינוך מורה לנו, שהמקום הטוב
ביותר ליצור ולנהל את השיח עם ריבונו של עולם הוא בית מדרש, שיש בו עמל ויגיעה
בתורה. כל אחד מאתנו בחר לו דרך חיים משלו, אך לכולנו דומה שטוב לשוב מדי פעם לבית
המדרש, לספוג מחדש את האווירה של 'והיה כל מבקש ה", להרגיש שייך לחבורה הנמשכת כבר
ארבעים שנה, החשה את הצורך בכך והמוכנה גם להקדיש לו מאמצים, גם אם הם אינם קלים
ומובנים מאליהם.
בחודש אלול השתא, בפרוס שנת הארבעים מפעלנו
המשותף, אנו מתפללים יחד עמכם, שהקב"ה ישמע קול זעקתנו, ישב בדונו אותנו ואת כל עמו
על כסא רחמים, וישיבנו אל תורתו, אל אהבתו ואל יראתו.

Dear Alumni,
With the approach of the new year, along with the fortieth anniversary of the Yeshiva’s founding, we take this opportunity of wishing you a year of life and peace, love of Torah and fear of heaven; with the fulfillment of all of your hopes and wishes, both communal and individual, for the good. May we merit this year to see God’s salvation of His nation and the return of His Presence to Tzion and Yerushalayim.
Our wishes are sent to you not only as alumni of the Yeshiva, but also as its students. Anyone who has had the opportunity of studying in our beit midrash is considered a student for life. Likewise, we regard ourselves, as Roshei Yeshiva, as students of the beit midrash, with much to learn from students and colleagues alike in our communal quest for Torah.
We are all obligated, at all times, to seek every possible way of coming close to God and maintaining a constant dialogue with Him: a dialogue addressing our concern for the healing and repair of our nation, for the restoration of the glory of our holy land, for the straightening of all those who have been bent over by life’s heavy burdens. Our dialogue must be one of longing and of love, a bond that is the very essence and purpose of our existence.
Our humble experience in education indicates that the best place in which to create and maintain a dialogue with God is the beit midrash, an environment of effort and toiling in Torah. Each of us has chosen his own path in life, but we all feel that it is good to return to the beit midrash once in a while, to absorb anew the atmosphere of “all who seek God,” to feel part of a learning community that has been maintained and grown for the past forty years, recognizing the importance of this undertaking and willing to devote effort and resources to it even where this is no easy task.
In this month of Elul, as we near forty years of our joint endeavor, we pray together with you that God hear our pleas; that He judge us and His entire nation with mercy, and bring us back to His Torah, to love and fear of Him.
